Slow Second Half Sends Women’s Basketball To Road Loss At Southern Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – A three point halftime lead disappeared as Ohio Dominican's women's basketball team suffered a 77-50 setback at Southern Indiana Thursday night.

The Panthers led 29-26 at intermission, but the Screaming Eagles (3-0) outscored ODU (1-2) 30-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Junior guard Alexis Overly (Chillicothe, Ohio) led ODU with 11 points and senior forward Sarah Futscher (Wilder, Ky.) added 10, but Ohio Dominican turned the ball over 30 times and shot 37 percent from the field in the loss.

The Panthers led for virtually the entire first half, with Futscher's layup giving ODU an 11-5 edge four minutes into play. ODU took a 17-13 lead into the second quarter and held USI scoreless over the final five minutes of the first half to stay in front 29-26 at intermission.

Ohio Dominican will play its home opener at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Saginaw Valley.
