COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's track and field team will compete in the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29 in its final meet of the spring season before the GLIAC Championships.
Competition will begin on Friday at 11 a.m. and day two action will start on Saturday at 10 a.m. with field events, followed by running events, which will take to the track at 12:15 p.m.
The Panthers are coming off a strong outing at the Otterbein Twilight Invitational in which the men's squad finished in a tie for first place and the women's team recorded a top 10 finish. Two school records were set, as freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) established a new top mark for Ohio Dominican in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.90 meters and sophomore Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) finished the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase in school record time of 9:40.47.
Seven outdoor Ohio Dominican track and field school records have been set so far this spring and the squad has set 11 school records overall in the 2016-17 school year. Overall, 103 personal bests have been realized by ODU track and field athletes this spring.
Following competition at Ashland this weekend, the squad will prepare for the GLIAC Championships, which will be held at Grand Valley State University beginning Wednesday, May 3 and concluding Friday, May 5.
