COLUMBUS, Ohio — For the second time this spring, Ohio Dominican's track and field team will compete at McVay Track at Memorial Stadium on the campus of Otterbein University, as the Panthers will vie for top honors at the Otterbein Twilight Invitational this Friday.
Field events will begin at 2 p.m., while running events are set to start at 5:30 p.m.
ODU is coming off strong performances at the Walsh Invitational this past Saturday. The men's squad finished in fifth place out of 15 competing teams with 61 total points, and leading the way was freshman Anthony Woods (Macedonia, Ohio), who set school and meet records in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.56. Woods has finished first in the 100 meter dash on three separate occasions this spring and holds school records in the men's indoor 60 meter dash (6.85) and 100 meter dash.
Freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) and sophomore Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) each finished in the top eight of their respective field events for the men's squad. Bass took third in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.39 meters, while Seymour took eighth in the shot put with a personal best throw of 14.26 meters.
The women's squad saw freshman Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) record the top time of the season for ODU in the women's 100 meter dash, finishing in 12.71 to take 10th place, while junior Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) picked up her second top 10 finish of the spring in the women's 1500, using a time of 5:03.82 to finish 10th.
Overall, Ohio Dominican track and field has set four outdoor school records this spring and following competition at Otterbein on Friday, the team will head to Ashland to compete in the Ashland Invitational, which will span Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29.
