WILMINGTON, N.C. — Ohio Dominican freshman Emma Barth (Dayton, Ohio) set an ODU women's outdoor track and field school record in the discus throw with a distance of 34.34 meters, while freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) established a new outdoor school record in the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 56.65 to lead ODU track and field on day two of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational.
Barth finished 14th out of 42 throwers in the women's discus with a school record distance of 34.34 meters. Bass took seventh out of 31 runners in the men's 400 hurdles, finishing in school record time of 56.65.
ODU saw the men's 4x100 meter relay team earn a first place finish. Bass, junior Avery Sumpter (Lima, Ohio), freshman Anthony Woods (Macedonia, Ohio) and senior Taylor Williams (Houston, Texas) recorded a time of 42.33 en route to a first place finish.
Woods also recorded a first place finish in the men's 200 meter dash, finishing in 21.90 to take first place honors out of 64 competitors. Senior Spencer Lester (Akron, Ohio) recorded a top 10 finish in the 200, using a personal best time of 22.59 to take 10th.
ODU saw three runners place in the top 15 in the men's mile. Sophomore Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) finished in 4:28.47 to place ninth out of 68 runners. Junior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) also recorded a strong finish in the mile, taking 11th with a time of 4:30.20. Sophomore Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio) established a personal best, finishing in 4:33.84 to place 15th.
Pipher also boasted a top five finish in the men's 2,000 meter steeplechase, using a time of 6:16.83 to place fifth out of 21.
Junior Kendall White (Cincinnati, Ohio) took 15th out of 51 runners in the men's 400 meter dash, finishing in personal best time of 51.89.
In the field for the men, sophomore Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) recorded a personal best in the discus throw, using a distance of 39.22 meters to take seventh out of 26 competitors. Seymour also established an outdoor personal best in the shot put, placing ninth out of 29 throwers with a distance of 13.92 meters.
For the women's squad, sophomore Imani Stepney (Columbus, Ohio) recorded a 15th place finish out of 76 total sprinters in the women's 200, finishing in personal best time of 26.28. Freshman Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio) took 20th with a personal best finish of 26.55, and junior Ryanna Reid (Columbus, Ohio) placed 29th, also finishing in personal best time at 27.00.
Ohio Dominican will look forward to its second outdoor event of the season on Saturday, March 25, when the squad travels to Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio for the Muskingum Invite.
