COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's track and field team will compete in the Buckeye Tune Up at French Fieldhouse on the campus of The Ohio State University on Friday.
Field events are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., with running events starting at 4:30 p.m.
The squad saw another indoor track and field record set this past weekend at the Tiffin Dragon Invite, with freshman Anthony Woods (Macedonia, Ohio) finishing in a school record time of 6.85 in the men's 60 meter finals. Woods' performance was good enough to rank in a tie for the 25th best men's 60m time in NCAA Division II this season. His school record mark in the 60m is the fourth indoor school record set this season.
ODU also saw its best finish of the season in the men's 4x400 meter relay, with sophomore Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio), freshman Alec Mueller (Minerva, Ohio), junior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) and freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio) leading the unit to a third place finish out of 15 with a season best time of 3:32.60. Carroll also finished fourth out of 50 competitors in the men's 800, finishing in 1:58.42. He holds the 17th best GLIAC time in the 800m, with a finish of 1:56.28, achieved at Mount Union on February 4. Looking forward to this weekend, Bass hopes to improve on his long jump distance of 6.86m, which is good for seventh in the GLIAC.
Senior Spencer Lester (Cleveland, Ohio) had a strong performance at Tiffin this past weekend in both the men's 400 and 200. Lester placed 14th out of 30 participants in the 400 with a time of 53.94 and placed sixth out of 59 runners in the 200, posting a time of 23.02.
On the women's side, the Panthers were led in the 200 by freshman Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio), who placed 15th out of 58 with a time of 27.32. Junior Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) also posted a top five finish in the women's 800, taking fourth out of 51 runners, finishing with a time of 2:24.50. Devereaux ranks in the top 25 in the GLIAC in the women's 800, with a top time of 2:22.07 that she achieved at the Jessica Starks Open at Capital earlier this season.
A season best was also realized for the Panthers at Tiffin on Saturday in the women's weight throw. Freshman Emma Barth (Dayton, Ohio) recorded a personal best distance of 13.27 meters.
Following the Buckeye Tune Up this weekend, the Panthers will turn their focus to the GLIAC Indoor Championships, which begin on Saturday, February 25.
