TIFFIN, Ohio — Ohio Dominican freshman Anthony Woods (Macedonia, Ohio) set the school record in the men's 60 meter dash with a time of 6.85 to lead Ohio Dominican's track and field team at the Tiffin Dragon Invite on Saturday.
Woods topped his previous personal best of 6.93 meters in the event to take third, and his time of 6.85 is an NCAA provisional mark and ranks in a tie for the 24th best time in the men's 60 meter dash in NCAA Division II this season.
The men's squad was led in the field by freshman Draven Bass (Circleville, Ohio), who recorded a distance of 6.57 meters in the long jump to record his second-best jump of the year. Bass set the school record in the event earlier this year with a jump of 6.86 meters at Capital.
ODU saw its top time of the year in the men's 4x400 meter relay, with Sophomore Bobby Bogantz (Sunbury, Ohio), freshman Alec Mueller (Minerva, Ohio), junior Justin Carroll (Berea, Ohio) and Bass leading the unit to a third place finish out of 15 with a season-best time of 3:32.60.
Sophomore Wes Pipher (Attica, Ohio) recorded a personal best finish of 4:34.73 in the men's mile, the second-fastest mile time of the season for the men's squad to finish 18th out of 55 competitors.
Senior Spencer Lester (Cleveland, Ohio) recorded the second-fastest time in the men's 400 on the season for Ohio Dominican, taking 14th out of 30 runners in 53.94. Lester also recorded a strong finish in the 200, finishing sixth out of 59 runners with a time of 23.02. Bass took 10th in the event with a 23.06.
Carroll finished fourth out of 50 competitors in the men's 800, finishing in 1:58.42.
For the women's squad, junior Jalyn Devereaux (Carroll, Ohio) took fourth place in the women's 800 out of 51 runners, finishing with a time of 2:24.50. Freshman Hannah Peltier (Marion, Ohio) realized a personal best in the event, taking 13th in a personal best time of 2:29.42.
In the women's 200, ODU was led by freshman Shaunqueza Stevens (Dublin, Ohio), who took 15th out of 58 runners with a time of 27.32. Sophomore Imani Stepney (Columbus, Ohio) finished 18th in the event with a time of 27.37 and junior Ryanna Reid (Columbus, Ohio) took 21st in 27.44.
In women's field events, freshman Emma Barth (Dayton, Ohio) recorded the top distance on the season for the Panthers in the weight throw with a distance of 13.27 meters.
In the men's shot put, sophomore Clayton Seymour (Ashville, Ohio) recorded his second-longest distance on the year, finishing 18th out of 50 competitors in the event with a throw of 13.78 meters. Seymour also recorded a distance of 12.66 meters in the weight throw, and sophomore Connor Cooley (London, Ohio) recorded his second-best distance of the year in the weight throw with a distance of 13.17 meters.
Ohio Dominican will compete next in The Ohio State University Open on Friday, February 17 and the Mount Union Invite on Saturday, February 18.
