COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sophomore Kristen Bales' (Pickerington, Ohio) three run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Ohio Dominican's softball team the walk-off win in game two winning 3-1 and earning a split with Malone in G-MAC play Monday at Panther Field.
After seven scoreless innings to begin game two, Malone would jump on the board with a solo home run to left before the Panthers would strike with two outs. Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) kept the inning going with a walk and Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) doubled to left field advancing Mix to third. Then, on a full count after a pair of foul balls to stay alive, Bales struck her fifth home run of the year to send everyone home.
Barber had another stellar pitching performance giving up just the one run on six hits with 11 strikeouts while not allowing a walk.
In game one, the Panthers were only to get one hit as Aubrey Rolon (Hilliard, Ohio) reached on a bunt in the third inning and Malone took advantage of a pair of Panther errors in the sixth to earnt the win 1-0 win.
Freshman Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) threw a complete game giving up the one unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
The Panthers are 29-19 overall and 18-4 in the conference as they welcome Ursuline to town on Saturday, April 27 with games at 1 and 3 p.m.
