COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's softball team comes home for a 10-game home stand stating with the home opener on Friday against Saginaw Valley State with game times set for 2 and 4 p.m.
The Panthers come into the week with a 6-12 record and are winners of four of their last six games as they swept Maryville before splitting a four game series with McKendree.
Freshman Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) and junior Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) have led the Panthers in the circle as they found their groove on the rubber. Long leads the pitching staff in ERA at 3.62 while she also recorded her first complete game in a win over Maryville before following that appearance up with a complete game win over McKendree. Barber leads the pitching staff in strikeouts with 37 and is coming off a 2-1 week on the rubber with two complete game wins.
Over the last six games in the circle, Long has a 1.58 ERA and is 2-0 giving up four runs with 11 strikeouts. In that same stretch, Barber has a 3.36 ERA giving up eight runs with 17 strikouts.
Barber along with senior Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) are swinging hot bats as they led the Panthers in average at .341 while sophomore Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) is hitting .340 toward the top of the lineup.
Over the last six games, Baber is hitting .400 to lead the way while Mix is hitting .368. Bales and junior Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) are hitting .364 with Bales having five RBI's and Slider with three doubles and three RBI's.
ODU hosts Saginaw Valley on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m., hosts Ashland at the same times and Grand Valley State on Sunday with first pitch of game on scheduled for 12 p.m.
