Softball Drops a Pair Against Mercyhurst and Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tennessee – Ohio Dominican's softball team dropped a pair of games against Mercyhurst with a final score of 5-4 and to Lincoln Memorial by a final score of 10-1 Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial.

Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) led the Panther offense in game one going 3-for-3 with two runs batted in while Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) reached base in all three appearances with a hit and a pair of walks.

Mercyhurst scored four times in the third before the Panthers scored twice in the fifth.

Cori Ladanyi (Ludlow, Kentucky) scored on a double steal while Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) got an RBI groundout that scored Keirah Smetzer (Ashland, Ohio).

In the top of the sixth, ODU tied the game up at 4-4 on single up the middle from Barber that score Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) and Farmer.

Mercyhurst would then take advantage of an ODU error and score the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the sixth.

Game two saw the Panthers take an early 1-0 lead as Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) hit a solo home run in the first inning. Bales had two hits in game two.

Lincoln Memorial scored three runs in the third and seven in the fourth and the Panthers could not get back on the board as the game was ended in the fifth.

ODU has a pair of rematches against Mercyhurst and Lincoln Memorial tomorrow. t and pairs from Hoyng and Varence down the stretch sealed the Panther win.
