Softball Begins Season at the Charger Chillout 3.0 in Huntsville, Alabama

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's softball team will kick off its 2019 season at the Charger Chillout 3.0 in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday with the event running  through Sunday.

The games will be held at the Metro Kiwanis Sportsplex in Huntsville with the Panthers taking on Union (TN.) and West Alabama on Friday, Shorter and Montevallo on Saturday and Georgia College and Miles on Sunday.

ODU was projected to place second in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference as they accrued 148 points with three first place votes. The Panthers are coming off a 35-21 record a year ago where they will bring back a bevy of experience.

The Panthers bring back all three starting pitchers from a year ago including the G-MAC Pitcher of the Year in Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) who finished the season with a 16-8 record and an earned run average of 2.05. Juniors Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) and Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) also return to the circle for the Panthers as Barber finished the year with a 15-7 record and an ERA of 2.86 while Farmer finished with a 3-5 record with an ERA of 3.44.

Barber and Farmer also will lead the Panther offense as Barber hit .333 while leading the conference in home runs and farmer hit .337 while finishing second in the conference with 40 runs batted in.

Sophomore outfielder Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio) played in 55 games a year ago hitting .310 while Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) and Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) hit .271 and .270, respectively.
