EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Following a strong junior season that culminated with Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year honors, Ohio Dominican softball junior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) was named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Second Team All-Midwest Region.
Lamping was one of four student-athletes representing the G-MAC and one of six pitchers to receive an award from the CCA. She finished with a 2.05 ERA for the season that included 10-straight victories over the Panthers' 19-game win streak between March 31 - April 22, the longest string of victories in NCAA Division II at the time.
With 16 wins in 23 starting appearances, Lamping pitched the most innings of any pitcher in the G-MAC (160.2 IP) and led the conference in complete games (17). She garnered two conference pitcher of the week awards and allowed just 22 earned runs in the months of April and May.
ODU (35-21, 18-6 G-MAC) earned its highest win total in the program's NCAA Division II era and was one of the hottest teams in the country in the month of April. Lamping returns next season along with Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) to anchor Ohio Dominican in the circle.
