COLUMBUS, Ohio — More schedule adjustments were made across the Great Midwest Athletic Conference this week due to impending inclement weather, and Ohio Dominican will host Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins on Friday and Saturday as a result.
ODU (14-15, 4-2 G-MAC) will take a four-game conference winning streak into a G-MAC doubleheader with D&E on Friday beginning at 1 p.m., and will host AB on Saturday in two games starting at 2 and 4 p.m. Snow is in the forecast for West Virginia this weekend, and the Battlers and Senators will make the trip to Ohio instead of the originally scheduled road trip to the Mountain State for the Panthers.
With four victories in a row, the Panthers are currently one of the hottest teams in the Great Midwest and have won their last four games by an impressive 34-5 margin.
Statistically, ODU ranks third in the conference in hits (217), second in RBIs (125), first in triples (14) and second in stolen bases (37). Defensively, the Panthers have been lights out to begin the month of April thanks in part to the pitching of junior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) and sophomore Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio). The two pitchers each boast eight complete games and have held the opposition to a combined three earned runs in their last four outings. In her last 12.0 innings pitched, Barber has held opposing to teams to a combined seven hits and zero earned runs while striking out seven. She also leads the team in batting average (.381), on base percentage (.437) and slugging percentage (.571). Sophomore Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) boasts the most RBIs on the team at 23 to rank in a tie for third in the conference.
The Panthers are scheduled to play their next 12 contests at Panther Field, with a non-conference doubleheader against No. 11 Indianapolis on Wednesday at 2 p.m. beginning a full slate of games next week for the team.
