COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following two non-conference wins this past weekend over Northwood, Ohio Dominican's softball team prepares to travel to Louisville, Kentucky for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 11 with Bellarmine.
First pitch of game one is set for 12 p.m. on Sunday, with the second contest beginning at approximately 2 p.m. at Knights Field.
ODU (9-8) has won six of its last nine games and took two out of three from Northwood this past weekend in a three-game series at Panther Field. Through 17 games, Ohio Dominican leads the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in hits (138), RBIs (78), strikeouts (72) and stolen bases (23).
With 18 RBIs in just 17 games, sophomore Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) leads the G-MAC in RBIs while also ranking third in the conference in hits with 21 on the season. Farmer has notched four doubles and two home runs thus far. Leading the squad in batting average is senior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) with a .414 average, ranking second in the conference in hits (24), sixth in RBIs (10) and fifth in stolen bases (five). Leading the G-MAC in stolen bases is senior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio), who boasts 13 on the season and 119 now for her career. Kline has also notched seven RBIs this season and has recorded two doubles and two triples.
In the circle, junior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) leads the squad with a 1.97 ERA. Lamping has notched 27 strikeouts while pitching 49.2 innings thus far. Sophomore Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio) carries a 2.89 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched, while Farmer brings a 3.82 ERA into the circle in 33 innings pitched.
Following Sunday's games at Bellarmine, Ohio Dominican will return home to Panther Field on March 17 & 18 for non-conference games with Ashland and RV Saginaw Valley.
