ASHLAND, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's softball team defeated Ashland by a final score of 3-2 in game one of a GLIAC doubleheader on Friday afternoon and fell 3-2 in the second contest of the day.

The Panthers (27-21, 14-8) are 7-3 in their last 10 games entering GLIAC tournament play.

ODU defeated Ashland 3-2 in game one of the doubleheader. The Panthers scored three runs on seven hits while holding AU to six hits for the contest. Leading the way offensively was junior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio), who went 3-for-4 while scoring two runs. Senior Casey Murdoch (Morrow, Ohio) went 2-for-2 and drew two walks. Junior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) went 2-for-4 and senior Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh) notched an RBI.

With two outs in the top of the third inning, Kline singled to center field before stealing second. A single in the next at bat by Sutter advanced Kline to third and she would score following a fielding error by the first baseman to give Ohio Dominican a 1-0 lead.

Murdoch doubled to left center to lead off the fourth inning and a fielding error in the next at bat by the catcher allowed Murdoch to score from second and increase the Panther advantage to 2-0.

Then in the top of the fifth with a 2-1 lead, Kline singled to left field and a single by Sutter in the next at bat advanced Kline to third. Wallace did the rest, scoring Kline from third on a sacrifice fly to give Ohio Dominican a 3-1 lead.

Sophomore Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) gave up just one more run for the rest of the game to earn her 12th win of the year and pick up the victory by a final score of 3-2. Lamping allowed just one earned run on six hits.
