Softball Bests Tiffin 2-1 (10 Innings) In Game One, Second Contest Halted Due To Darkness

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's softball team scored a 2-1 (10 inn.) win over Tiffin in game one of a GLIAC doubleheader on Thursday at Panther Field and game two was halted due to darkness at the conclusion of the seventh inning with the score tied at 5-5.

Game two between the Panthers and Dragons will be tentatively resumed at a later date and time to be determined.

Ohio Dominican (21-18, 8-5 GLIAC) rallied for a 2-1 (10 inn.) win over Tiffin in game one of the doubleheader. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth with one out, junior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) bunted for a single, then in the next at bat, junior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) reached first and advanced to second on a fielding error by the first baseman which allowed Kline to score and the Panthers to tie the game at 1-1.

After four more innings of softball and the contest tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 10th, senior Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh, Wisconsin) singled to left field to score freshman Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) and earn a 2-1 victory for the Panthers.

Sophomore pitcher Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) went the distance for ODU, pitching all 10 innings and allowing just one earned run. Kline finished the contest 3-for-4, also stealing two bases. Wallace recorded one hit and RBI while also drawing one walk.

Game two ended at the conclusion of the seventh inning with the two teams knotted at 5-5. Mix leads the Panthers with three hits. Senior Casey Murdoch (Morrow, Ohio), Sutter and Kline each have two hits for ODU.

The Panthers will face Findlay on Saturday in a GLIAC doubleheader at Panther Field beginning at 1 p.m.
