NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's softball team dropped two games in a doubleheader at Walsh on Wednesday, falling 4-2 in game one and 9-0 in five innings in game two.
In game one, Walsh outhit the Panthers 11-6 and held Ohio Dominican scoreless through the first five innings en route to a 4-2 win.
Walsh struck first in the game, scoring in the bottom of the first to go up 1-0 and adding three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-0 lead.
Trailing 4-0 in the top of the sixth with two outs, sophomore Taylor Kline (Bellville, OH) doubled to left center field and then advanced to third on a fielding error. In the next at bat, sophomore Liz Sutter (Mansfield, OH) doubled down the left field line, scoring Kline and cutting the deficit to 4-1.
The Panthers rally continued in the top of the seventh, as senior Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, OH) doubled down the left field line to begin the inning. Freshman Kelly Mix (Baltimore, OH) singled up the middle to advance Albanese to third in the next at bat, then senior Brier Sanner (Hartville, OH) singled up the middle to score Albanese and bring the score to just 4-2.
But Ohio Dominican could not cut the deficit any further and came up just short, 4-2.
Albanese went two-for-three, marking her sixth multi-hit game of the year, and Kline and Sanner also recorded hits for the Panthers.
