GLIAC Preview: Fourth-Seeded Panthers to Meet Ferris State in First Round
Riding a six-game win streak, the fourth-seeded Ohio Dominican softball team heads to the double-elimination GLIAC Tournament (April 27-29) for the first time with a 10 a.m. matchup Friday, April 27 against fifth-seeded Ferris State (Mich.) at Iriti Field at the Marathon Diamonds Complex in Findlay. The teams split the season series in Big Rapids back on April 14 as the Bulldogs took game one, 7-0, and the Panthers held on in game two, 8-6, after sporting an 8-1 lead through five innings.

In its inaugural campaign in Division II, ODU finished 14-36 overall and 9-23 in conference play, highlighted by wins in seven of the final 12 contests, including an upset of No. 25 Tiffin and a four-game series sweep of Lake Erie.

Softball Receives NFCA Academic Recognition
Ohio Dominican’s softball team was recently recognized for its work outside of the playing field as five players were named as a 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete, released this morning by the NFCA. The award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.
