Panther Harriers Battle Wind, Rain at All-Ohio Invite
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Competing at the All-Ohio Invitational Friday afternoon, featuring more than 45 Division I, II, III and NAIA schools across the state, Ohio Dominican's women's cross country team finished ninth out of 14 Division II/NAIA schools and the men placed ninth out of 16 Division II/NAIA schools.
Overall, the Panther women were 31st out of 47 competitors, and the men were 36th out of 45.
Freshman Todd Hewitt (Eaton, Ohio) paced the men's squad with a time of 27:27.33, finishing 142nd out of over 300 runners. Mike Barber (New Franklin, Ohio) followed in 28:12.58, while classmate Matt Richardson (Columbus, Ohio) finished with a mark of 29:43.26. Also breaking the 30 minute barrier were freshman Jason Williams (Powell, Ohio) in 29:50.27 and junior Brian Litt (Mansfield, Ohio) in 29:55.67.
On the women's side, freshman Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio) led the Panthers with a 125th place finish out of 317 runners. She completed the course in a time of 19:57.62. Other top finishers included senior Meghan Willeke (Lexington, Ohio), who was moments behind Walker in 20:02.97, and sophomore Mallory Kitts (Springfield, Ohio), who finished in a time of 21:24.04. Rounding out the top five for ODU was senior Allison Green (Cincinnati, Ohio) in 22:00.03 and freshman Rachel Collins (Dayton, Ohio) in 22:39.03.
ODU's cross country teams are back in action on October 14 at the Wilmington Fall Classic.
