Personal Records Fall as Panthers Place Sixth at Marv Frye Invite
DELAWARE, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's track and field team set 22 personal records in garnering a sixth place finish at the Marv Frye Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Panthers finished with 57 points to earn their sixth place finish. Host Ohio Wesleyan won with 139 points.
Freshman Tyler Fifer (Westerville, Ohio) notched three more top-three finishes. He placed second in both the high jump (6-04.00) and triple jump (46-04.25) while taking third in the long jump (21-06.00).
Classmate Ashton Hall (Huber Heights, Ohio) also had a second place showing as he crossed the line in the 800 meter run in 1:56.58. Fellow freshman Aaron Johnson (Troy, Ohio) had a runner-up effort in the 110 hurdles, finishing in 15.17, and was followed by freshman Trey Hammons-Scott (Huber Heights, Ohio) in the event in eighth place (15.92).
The 4x400 relay team had a top-three effort in crossing the line in 3:22.94. The squad was comprised of freshmen Kenny Brown (Westerville, Ohio), Malik Tuck (Medina, Ohio), Jason Williams (Powell, Ohio) and Hall.
Tuck continues his busy day with a fifth place effort in the 100 meter dash (11.15) and took seventh in the 200 (22.57).
Other top 10 finishers for the men included Mike Barber (New Franklin, Ohio), who came in eighth in the 5000 meter run (15:48.04); sophomore Darrell Harley (Columbus, Ohio), who took ninth in the 100 dash (11.18); freshman Jordan Singleton (Alpharetta, Ga.), who placed ninth in the shot put (41-08.00); and Brown, who finished 10th in the 400 with his mark of 51.05.
The women sent several athletes to the invitational, led by senior Meghan Willeke (Lexington, Ohio), who placed 10th in the 5000 meter run (19:03.95). Freshman Katie Rini (Pickerington, Ohio) placed 11th in the 400 (1:05.11) and freshman Tara Walker (Lewis Center, Ohio) took 12th in the 1500 meter run (5:08.40).
