The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team earned a tough home GLIAC win onSunday morning, defeating Wayne State 6-3 at the New Albany Tennis Center.
Doubles play was competitive as the Panthers were about to win 2-of-3 courts for the early advantage. Gerardo Perez (Jr./Mexico City, Mexico) and Tyler Johnston (Sr./Wilmington, OH) gave ODU their first point with a hard fought 8-6 win on court three. After dropping the #2 doubles point, the Panthers turned to Justin Tjon (So./Wilemstad, Curacao) and Ritchie Kruunenberg (Fr./Nieuw-Vennep, Holland) closed out their match 8-6 on court one.
Singles play saw ODU claim two quick points to help build a 4-2 advantage. Kruunenberg earned a 6-0, 6-2 win on court one, while Tjon won 6-0, 6-2 on court two. With three matches remaining the Panthers earned their fifth point at #5 singles when junior Patrick Ohanian (Jr./Hudson, OH) earned a 6-4, 6-3 win. Perez gave the Panthers their sixth point with a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at #6 singles.
Ohio Dominican will return to action on Thursday as the play host to Tiffin University.
