The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team completed a 3-0 weekend on Saturday afternoon, defeating Lake Erie College 9-0 at Panther Courts.
Solid doubles play from all three teams saw the Panthers gain early control of the match. Tyler Johnston (Jr./Willmington, OH) and Patrick Ohanian (So./Hudson, OH) took court two, 8-1, while Walid Gtari (Fr./Tunis, Tunisia) and Justin Tjon (Fr./Willemstad, Curacao) earned a 8-2 win on court one. At #3 doubles, Tito Bonadonna (Sr./Caracas, Venezuela) and Jeremy Mokry (Jr./Hilliard, OH) fell down 2-0 to begin the match but responded, winning the final eight games for am 8-2 win.
In singles play, ODU continued their strong play, using their depth to seize control of the outcome. Ohanian earned the Panthers fourth point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 singles. Tjon was close behind, winning on court four, 6-0, 6-1. Gerardo Perez (So./Mexico City, Mexico) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win on court five to give the Panthers a 6-0 lead. Mokry and Bonadonna also earned straight set wins, taking courts three and two, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-2, respectively. Gtari finished off the sweep winning on court one, 6-1, 6-7(4), 10-3.
The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, April 9th when they play host to Tiffin University. The match is set to begin at 3 p.m.
