The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team earned their first GLIAC win of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the University of Findlay 7-2 at the New Albany Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the Panthers took 2-of-3 courts to earn the early advantage. Walid Gtari (Fr./Tunis, Tunisia) and Justin Tjon (Fr./Wilemstad, Curacao) earned the win on court one, 8-6, while Tyler Johnston (Jr./Wilmington, OH) and Jeremy Mokry (Jr./Hilliard, OH) won on court three, 8-5.
In singles play, ODU took 5-of-6 matches to earn the GLIAC win. Gtari and Johnston earned straight set wins on courts one and two, winning 7-5, 6-3 and 6-2, 7-6(4). Mokry, Tjon and Gerardo Perez (So./Mexico City, Mexico) finished off the singles points for the Black and Gold, winning on courts four, five and six, 6-2, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
"It was nice to earn a GLIAC win," said head coach Ryan Beigle. "The guys continue to work hard and have the necessary drive to continue to improve."
The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, March 23rd as they travel to Detroit, Michigan to battle GLIAC foe Wayne State University. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m.
