GLIAC Opener Unkind to Panther Men
Midland, MI - The Ohio Dominican men's tennis team opened GLIAC play this afternoon in Midland, Michigan against 16-time defending GLIAC Champion, Northwood University. ODU battled hard, but fell 7-2 to the #21 ranked Timberwolves.
In doubles play, ODU could only gain one point, dropping 2-of-3 doubles courts. Earning the lone doubles point for the Panthers was Bernardo Feitosa (Jr./Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Igor Carvalho (Fr./ Belem, Brazil) on court one, 8-5.
ODU entered singles action needing four singles courts, but came away with only one point, dropping their first GLIAC match. Second semester addition Carlos Perez (Jr./Miami, FL) played well, earning a singles win on court four, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. On court five, Greg Dillon (Sr./Fort Wayne, IN) put on a valliant effort, eventually falling 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-10.
The Panthers will return to GLIAC play tomorrow in Detroit, Michigan against the Midwest Region fifth ranked Warriors of Wayne State University. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Peachtree Tennis Club.
