Men's Soccer Drops G-MAC Quarterfinal Contest with Lake Erie

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team dropped the Great Midwest Quarterfinal contest with Lake Erie by a score of 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Panther Stadium. 

With the loss the Panthers season comes to an end with a record of 8-9-1 overall. Lake Erie advances to the G-MAC semifinal on Thursday.

Although ODU outshot the Storm 8-6 in the first half, it was LEC who found the back of the net. In the eighth minute, Javier Borreguero finished his sixth goal of the year finishing lower right.

ODU put six of the eight shots on goal in the first half while Lake Erie had three. The Panthers also had a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks in the first half but was unable to convert. 

The second half was a defensive battle as neither offense was able to break through for a goal. Lake Erie outshot ODU 6-3 in the final 45 minutesbut ODU had the advantage in corner kicks. 

Leading the Panther offense was senior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) who had four total shots with three on goal including a shot in the 27th minute that hit the post after being deflected by the Storm goalkeeper. Freshman Tyler Arnold (Westerville, Ohio) also had four shots in the contest but just two on goal.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ian Crook (Cincinnati, Ohio) faced five shots making four saves in all 90 minutes between the posts.

The Panthers will look forward to the 2019 season and third year of competition in the Great Midwest.
