COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team dropped a Great Midwest Athletic Conference matchup with Walsh by a score of 2-1 Thursday night at Panther Stadium.
With the loss, Ohio Dominican drops to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference while Walsh advances to 3-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the G-MAC.
The first half saw senior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) find the back of the net in the 23rd minute for his second goal on the year. Kasprzak retrieved a loose ball from the Cavalier goalkeeper to sneak the shot in past the defense.
ODU outshot Walsh 12-5 in the first half with four of those shots on goal to the Cavaliers three. The Panthers also had three corner kicks to the two of Walsh.
The second half saw the Panthers outshoot the Cavs 9-7. However, goals in the 68th and 75th minute off of set plays for the Cavaliers put them ahead 2-1. ODU had a couple chances in the second as they had three more corners in the half but could not find the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper Alec Mathew (Pataskala, Ohio) faced six shots, making four saves in all 90 minutes between the posts. Walsh's goalkeeper, Tom Jackson, faced eight shots while making seven saves on the night.
Ohio Dominican will turn their attention to Lake Erie as the Storm come to Columbus on Saturday, September 15 with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
