COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team welcomes Malone and Walsh to Panther Stadium this week for Great Midwest Athletic Conference matches and will honor former Panther defender Brock Taylor on Saturday against the Cavaliers.
ODU takes on Malone on Thursday at 5 p.m. and will host the Brock Taylor Memorial Match against Walsh on Saturday at 7 p.m. Fans at the Brock Taylor Memorial Match will have the opportunity to give to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) through a silent auction, 50-50 draw along with donations. The Panthers (2-8, 1-7 G-MAC) are looking to get back in the win column after falling to Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins last week. ODU is 2-3 thus far at home and will host four of its next five opponents at Panther Stadium.
Junior Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Florida) leads the team and ranks in a tie for third in the conference in goals scored with six on the season. Barnes has scored four of the last five goals for Ohio Dominican.
Junior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) notched an assist in the Panthers' loss at Alderson Broaddus and ranks second on the squad in points with seven on the year. Third in points for the Panthers is freshman Jaxson Szabo (Worthington, Ohio), who boasts two goals and two assists on the season.
The Pioneers (1-8, 1-6 G-MAC) currently sit ninth in the Great Midwest standings, most recently falling to Lake Erie by a final tally of 4-0. Sam Condon leads Malone with four goals on 18 shots on goal.
The Cavaliers (5-4-1, 4-3-0 G-MAC) are fifth in the Great Midwest and will travel to Findlay on Thursday before facing the Panthers on Saturday night in the Brock Taylor Memorial Match.
Dwight Van Dyke leads the Cavs while ranking in a tie for fifth in the conference in scoring with six goals on the year.
