Men’s Soccer Drops 5-2 Decision At Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W.VA. – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team fell at No. 18 Ohio Valley by a final tally of 5-2 on Saturday in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference match.

Junior Jonathan Barnes (Winter Haven, Florida) scored two first half goals and now boasts a team-high five goals on the season, scoring four times in his last two contests. Junior Phillip Kelly (Canal Winchester, Ohio) recorded an assist in the match.

Ohio Dominican struck first in the match when Barnes found the back of the net for the third time this season on an assist from Kelly to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.

Ohio Valley countered with the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead, but Barnes cut the Panther deficit to a one goal difference in the 44th minute, scoring for the second time in the match and fifth time on the year to bring the score to 3-2.

The Fighting Scots scored two goals in the second half to take a 5-2 lead and held the Panthers out of the back of the net for the remainder of the match, earning the conference victory.

Ohio Dominican travels to Alderson Broaddus on Thursday and Davis & Elkins on Saturday for Great Midwest contests.
