COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team out-shot Ashland 22-9, but dropped a 3-2 contest to the Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Panther Stadium in a non-conference match.

ODU (1-1-0, 0-0-0 G-MAC) also held a 10-8 shots on goal advantage over AU and accrued eight corner kicks compared to just one for the Eagles.

After trailing 2-0 through the first half, Ohio Dominican cut into the Eagle lead in the 51st minute after a foul in the box led to a penalty kick goal by junior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio), scoring for the second time in 2017 to cut the Ashland lead to 2-1.

Ashland (2-0-0, 0-0-0 GLIAC) pushed its lead to 3-1 on a goal in the 69th minute, but ODU countered again, as senior Austin Blair (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored from the close middle of the box on assists from freshman Jaxson Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) and junior Phillip Kelly (Canal Winchester, Ohio) in the 82nd minute on a free kick, once again cutting into Ashland's lead, 3-2.

The Panthers attempted six more shots in the final eight minutes, but could not even the match, falling for the first time in 2017 by a final mark of 3-2.

ODU will look to get back in the win column when it opens Great Midwest play on Wednesday night with a home match against Findlay at 7:30 p.m.
