COLUMBUS, Ohio — A furious comeback in the final ten minutes of regulation by Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team tied the match 3-3 with Tiffin, but a goal by Andre Landell on an assist Scott Byrom at the 105:17 mark lifted Tiffin to a 4-3 (2OT) win at Panther Stadium on Friday night.
Trailing 3-1 with 9:20 remaining in the match, senior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) scored by way of a header off a corner kick from sophomore Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio), bringing the Panthers to within one at 3-2.
Then at the 87:10 mark of regulation, sophomore Phil Kelly (Canal Winchester, Ohio) headed a goal into the net after a flurry of shots by Panthers, tying the match at 3-3 and pushing the contest into overtime.
In the overtime period, Kasprzak recorded a shot that was saved at the 98:08 mark and a subsequent Ohio Dominican shot found the back of the net, but offside was called to cancel out the play.
At the 105:17 mark in the second overtime, Landell scored his second goal of the night on a free kick pass from Byrom, giving Tiffin the victory, 4-3 (2OT).
Despite being outshot 32-18, Ohio Dominican recorded 10 shots on goal compared to 12 for Tiffin.
Wahle finished with two goals and finished with three shots on goal and six shots overall. Kelly added a goal on two shots and one shot on goal, and junior Clayton Hildebrand (Findlay, Ohio) finished with eight saves at goalkeeper.
Ohio Dominican will face Findlay on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Panther Stadium in its Senior Day contest.
