COLUMBUS, Ohio — An 18-15 advantage in shots was not enough for Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team, which fell by a final score of 3-0 against Northwood in a GLIAC contest on Sunday afternoon at Panther Stadium.
The Panthers (5-9-0, 5-7-0 GLIAC) outshot the Timberwolves (8-2-3, 7-2-3 GLIAC) 12-8 in the first half and 18-15 for the game. ODU also held a decisive 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Ohio Dominican was led by sophomore Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) and senior Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, Ohio), who each recorded two shots on goal. Freshman Cameron Christian (Pataskala, Ohio) recorded four shots overall, and senior Shane Facemyer (Sunbury, Ohio) finished with three shots for the Panthers.
The match remained tied through the majority of the first half, but Northwood was able to score with nine seconds left in the first half, as a long breakaway for the Northwood offense resulted in a goal for Eamonn Kelly on an assist from Bryan Lawson to give the Timberwolves a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
The Timberwolves scored two more goals in the 76th minute to shut the door on a potential Ohio Dominican comeback, taking the victory, 3-0.
Ohio Dominican currently sits fifth in the GLIAC and will look to continue to make a push for the GLIAC Tournament, facing Ashland in its next contest on Sunday, October 23 at 1 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
