NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team fell 2-1 against Walsh in a GLIAC contest on Wednesday night.
The Panthers (4-8-0, 4-6-0 GLIAC) were able to outshoot Walsh 16-9 overall and held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, along with a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
ODU was led by junior Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio), who finished with one goal on two shots on goal and four shots. Senior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) picked up an assist in his second-straight match. Senior Shane Facemyer (Sunbury, Ohio) finished with two shots on goal on three shots overall. Senior Tanner Ebright (Pickerington, Ohio) recorded two shots, one shot on goal, and sophomore Phillip Kelly (Canal Winchester, Ohio) took two shots with one shot on goal.
At goalkeeper, junior Clayton Hildebrand (Findlay, Ohio) went all 90 minutes between the posts, finishing with two saves.
Walsh (5-7-1, 3-7-1 GLIAC) struck first, scoring in the 27th minute on a two-on-one opportunity, giving the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead, which they carried into halftime.
ODU struck back in the second half, as Wahle found Kasprzak in the 59th minute to tie the game and give the Panthers new life, 1-1.
But Walsh would deliver the final blow in the 66th minute, scoring on a header to take a game-winning, 2-1 lead.
Ohio Dominican will be back in action on Friday, October 16, as it faces Saginaw Valley at 7 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
