FINDLAY, Ohio — A goal in the 84th minute for Findlay was enough to defeat Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team by a final score of 3-2 in a GLIAC contest on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (3-7-0, 3-5-0 GLIAC) scored two goals or more for the first time in the last four matches, but it would not be enough to overcome three Finday goals on the day.
ODU held a slight 11-10 edge in shots over the Oilers and also held a 7-5 shot on goal advantage.
Freshman Cameron Christian (Pataskala, Ohio) scored the first two goals of his career in the match and led the Panthers in scoring, hitting the back of the net in the 30th minute and in the second half in the 76th minute. Senior Shane Facemyer (Sunbury, Ohio) recorded his first assist of the season and senior Michael Fragoulis (Chios, Greece) also picked up an assist, his second of the year.
Findlay struck first, scoring in the fifth minute to take an early 1-0 lead.
The Panthers responded in the 30th minute, as Christian scored the first goal of his collegiate career on an assist from Facemyer to tie the match at 1-1.
The two teams remained scoreless until the 71st minute when Findlay scored once again, this time on a breakaway for the Oiler offense to take a 2-1 lead.
But Christian and the Panther offense wasn't finished, heading the ball into the goal off a free kick by Fragoulis to tie the game 2-2 in the 76th minute.
The Oilers however would have the final say in the match, scoring in the 84th minute to take a game decisive, 3-2 lead.
Ohio Dominican will have a week off before it travels to Northern Michigan for a rematch with the Wildcats on Sunday, October 9 at 2 p.m. The Panthers defeated the Wildcats 1-0 in a match on Sunday, September 11 at Panther Stadium.
