Men’s Soccer Faces Northern Michigan For The First Time This Sunday

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After falling 2-1 in its first contest of the 2016 season against No. 12 Urbana, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team will seek its first win of the year as it hosts Northern Michigan in its inaugural men's soccer season this Sunday, September 11 at 12 p.m. at Panther Stadium.

Sunday's match marks the first meeting between Ohio Dominican and Northern Michigan in men's soccer.

About Ohio Dominican

The Panthers (0-1-0, 0-0-0 GLIAC) will look to build off a late rally in its match against No. 12 Urbana last Thursday, scoring in the 80th minute to narrow the deficit to 2-1 before falling. Senior Michael Mueller (Aurora, Illinois) scored the first goal of his career against the Blue Knights, with sophomore Ryan Kasprzak (Hilliard, Ohio) leading the Panthers in shots with four. Sophomore Yugi Yamada (Tsukuba, Japan) also recorded a shot on goal for Ohio Dominican.

After facing Northern Michigan, ODU will host Walsh on Wednesday, September 14 before beginning a four-game road trip that will include visits to Saginaw Valley (Fri., Sept. 16), Northwood (Sun., Sept. 18), Ohio Valley (Thurs., Sept. 22) and Ashland (Sun., Sept. 25).

About Northern Michigan

The Wildcats (0-1-0) are in their inaugural season and will face Ashland on Friday, September 9 before making the trip to Columbus to take on Ohio Dominican on Sunday.

NMU fell 3-2 at Missouri-St. Louis in its first match on Sunday, September 4. Freshmen Ben Hoffman and Sveinn Karlsson each scored goals for Northern Michigan.
