Golf Teams Set to Compete at the G-MAC Championships This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's and women's golf teams get set to compete in the G-MAC Championships at the UK University Club in Lexington, Kentucky this weekend.

The men play 36-holes on Friday and 18 Saturday while the women will play 27 holes each day.

Each team is coming off their best tournaments of the year as the women hosted the NC4K at Jefferson Country Club and the men hosted the Bill Blazer Memorial this past weekend at Cumberland Trail.

On the women's side junior Abby Swensen (Milford, Ohio) posted a school record in the first round last week shooting 70 and a career-best 36-hole score of 151 over the two days.

The 630 posted by the women was the second best 36-hole score this season and their third place finish was tied for the best this season.

Bailey Krueger's (Canal Winchester, Ohio) average of 79.9 leads the way for the Panthers coming into the week while Swensen's 81.3 is second.

Junior Emma Romine's (Marysville, Ohio) average of 83.4 is third for the Panthers as she shot each round this spring below 86 including tying her season best 79 on day one of the NC4K Classic.   

On the men's side, they are also coming off their top finish of the year finishing second at the Bill Blazer Memorial this past weekend at Cumberland Trail.

Freshman Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio) is coming off an All-Tournament performance this past weekend finishing eighth with a 76 and a 73 at the Bill Blazer Memorial. His average of 75.9 is just behind fellow freshman Robert Holden's (Hertfordshire, England) 75.7. Herman comes into the week with one top five finish and two top-10's while Holden also has a pair of top-10 finishes this season.

Senior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) holds three top-10 finishes to lead the Panthers and his 76.6 average coming into the week is fourth just behind junior Blake Saffell's (Somerset, Ohio) 76.5.

The men tee off both days at 7:30 a.m. while the women will hit the links at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
