COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's golf team will travel to Lemont, Illinois this weekend to take part in the Flyer Intercollegiate at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. The event is hosted by Lewis University.
The Panthers are coming off a fifth-place finish in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invitational. The two-day, three-round event was won by the Chargers of Hillsdale with a score of 865. The Panthers totaled a score of 905 over the 54 holes.
Freshman Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio) led the way for the Panthers as he placed tied for 14th in the tournament. Crowley improved off his 75 in round one as he posted scores of 73 and 72 in rounds two and three, respectively.
Fellow first-year Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) finished tied for 22nd place with a score of 226. One stroke behind Holden at 227 total was the third starting freshman for the Panthers in Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio), who tied for 24th.
Senior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) finished 53rd with a score of 246 at the G-MAC Fall Invitational.
Rounding out the Panther five will be freshman Brandon Wehrle (Findlay, Ohio) who last playerd at the Ohio Cup on September 8 where he posted rounds of 80 and 74 which tied him for 28th.
With three straight top-five finishes to kick off the season, Ohio Dominican will continue to build off their hot start as they head to the Flyer Intercollegiate for the first time. Ten schools competed in the event last year. The Panthers will be joined at the event by G-MAC rivals Kentucky Wesleyan and Walsh.
The shotgun start will begin at 8:30 a.m. on both Monday and Tuesday where they will play 36 holes on Monday.
