COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Ohio Dominican's men's golf team finished fifth at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Fall Invitational with a three round total of 905 after the final day at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Indiana.
The two day 54-hole event saw 27 holes played each day and saw 12 teams with 60 players.
After a 300 through the first 18 holes, the Panthers shot 304 and 301 in rounds two and three. Hillsdale won the tournament shooting 865 which was four shots ahead of second place Findlay. Trevecca and Tiffin were third and fourth while Kentucky Wesleyan was six shots behind the Panthers in sixth. Walsh and Malone tied for seventh shooting 911 while Davis and Elkins and Cedarville rounded out the top 10 shooting 916 and 920, respectively.
Freshman Dalton Crowley (Nashport, Ohio) led the way for the Panthers as he placed tied for 14th in the tournament. Crowley improved off his 75 in round one as he posted scores of 73 and 72 in rounds two and three, respectively.
Fellow classmate Robert Holden (Hertfordshire, England) finished tied for 22nd. After a first round 74, Holden shot 77 in the second round before shooting 75 in the final round. Just behind Holden was the third freshman for the Panthers in Ben Herman (Germantown, Ohio). Herman finished tied for 24th after shooting a 227 over the three rounds. Herman started the event shooting 75 before a second round 77 and matched his first round score in the final round.
Junior Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) finished tied for 33rd as he posted a score of 231. After a 75 in the first round, Saffell posted scores of 77 and 79 to complete his tournament. Rounding out the Panther five was senior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) who finished 53rd. After posting an 88 in round one, Wayman came back to shoot 77 and 79 in the second and third rounds.
The men's golf team will take a weekend off before returning to action in two weeks at the Flyer Intercollegiate at Cog Hill in Lemont, Illinois on October 1 and 2.
