DATAW ISLAND, S.C. — In its fifth top 10 team finish of the 2017-18 season, Ohio Dominican's men's golf team took eighth place at the TaylorMade Intercollegiate at the Cotton Dike Course on Tuesday.
It was the first outing of the spring for the Panthers, who saw three individuals place in the top 30 of the 96-man tournament field.
Senior Ryan Thompson (Dunfermline, Scotland) led the way for Ohio Dominican, scoring a 237 (74-85-78) to place in a tie for 18th. It marks the third top 20 finish of the season for Thompson and the sixth of his career. He recorded one birdie and 13 pars in round three and notched six birdies for the tournament.
Establishing a career-low 54-hole score was freshman Owen Johnson (Toledo, Ohio), who finished in a tie for 29th with a 240 (78-80-82). Johnson tied a career-low round of 78 on Monday and scored three birdies for the tournament.
Also finishing in a tie for 29th was junior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio), who shot a 240 (81-81-78) after saving his best round for last. Wayman tallied two birdies and nine pars in round three to finish the day just +4.
Ohio Dominican will compete next at the Findlay Spring Invitational, which will span Monday, March 26 and Tuesday, March 27 at the University of Kentucky Big Blue Club in Lexington.
