COLUMBUS, Ohio — The 2018 spring season will begin for Ohio Dominican's men's golf team this week with the TaylorMade Intercollegiate in Dataw Island, South Carolina.
Play will span Monday, March 12 and Tuesday, March 13 at the Cotton Dike Course, with 54 holes of competition scheduled. A shotgun start will begin the tournament on Monday at 8:30 a.m., and play will begin on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
In the team's last outing, Ohio Dominican finished second out of eight competing teams at the Cedarville Fall Invitational on October 15. Two Panthers notched top five individual finishes, with freshman Alex Heban (Toledo, Ohio) taking third place following a two-round total of 153 (76-77). Heban finished +9 for the tournament to realize the first top five finish of his collegiate career. Also ranking in the top five for the Panthers was junior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio), who shot a 155 (76-79) to place in a tie for fifth overall. As a team, Ohio Dominican notched two top five finishes as a team during the fall season and recorded its low 36-hole round at the OVU Highlands Cup Challenge, shooting a 599.
ODU will compete in five tournaments this spring and will host the Bill Blazer Memorial Tournament on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 at the Cumberland Trail Golf Club in Pataskala, Ohio. The 2018 Great Midwest Spring Championships will take place Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24 at Four Bridges Country Club in Liberty Township, Ohio.
