Wayman Leads Men’s Golf To Fifth Place Finish At OVU Highlands Cup Challenge

MARIETTA, Ohio — Ohio Dominican men's golf junior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) recorded a ninth place finish out of 49 competitors to lead the Panthers to a fifth place team finish at the OVU Highlands Cup Challenge at Marietta Country Club on Sunday.

Wayman shot a 147 (76-71) and his second round score of 71 is the lowest round score of his career and second-lowest round of the year for ODU.

Sophomore Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) and freshman Jack Rubin (Hilliard, Ohio) tied for 14th place overall with total scores of 149. Saffell turned in round scores of 74 and 75, while Rubin shot a 76 in round one and 73 in round two.

Freshmen Alex Heban (Toledo, Ohio) and Owen Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) each shot career-low round scores, with Heban turning in a 74 in round two and Johnson shooting a 78 in the final round of the tournament.

Ohio Dominican heads to Country Club of the North in Beavercreek, Ohio for the Cedarville Fall Invitational on October 14 & 15 for its final tournament of the fall season.
