COLUMBUS, Ohio — In its first tournament of the 2017 fall season, Ohio Dominican's men's golf team will compete and play host to the ODU Kickoff Classic at Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick on Tuesday.
Thirteen schools will compete in the 36-hole tournament, which will feature Par 72 with a distance of 6,877 yards. Indianapolis returns to the field of competing teams as three-time reigning champion.
ODU finished eighth a season ago in the tournament and saw two seniors earn top 10 finishes. Junior Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) finished with the second-lowest team score for the Panthers, shooting a 159 (82-77). Wayman was one of five players to eagle a hole, posting a two on the Par 4 number one during the second round. Sophomore Ryan Simi (Newark, Ohio) ranked third for Ohio Dominican amongst team competitors, shooting a 160 (75-85).
The Panthers will also look for strong contributions from senior Ryan Thompson (Dunfermline, Scotland), who returns with the lowest average round score from a season ago for ODU at 77.3.
Ohio Dominican will feature two teams in the tournament field Tuesday. A shotgun start is scheduled to begin play at 8:30 a.m. Follow the Panthers and the rest of the tournament field through live scoring.
