Men's Basketball Defeated by Number 8 Findlay

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team dropped a Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest with No. 8 Findlay by a final score of 89-63 Thursday night at Alumni Hall.

The Panthers were led by Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) who posted 17 points while fellow classmate Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) posted 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

In the first half, Findlay led 14-9 before the Panthers went on a 7-2 run knotted the game at 16 apiece with 12:02 remaining in the first half. ODU would trail 20-16 but a 7-0 run capped by a Matt King (Mason, Ohio) three gave ODU a 23-20 lead with 7:42 remaining in the half.

A Michael Scott (Hebron, Kentucky) would give the Panthers a 29-26 lead with 5:31 remaining in the half but a scoreless drought of over eight minutes eliminated the chances of the upset as Findlay would take a 20-point lead at 49-29 and would not look back.

Trey Smith led the way for the Oilers scoring 27 points while Aaron Overhiser had 18.

The Panthers shot 43.6% (24-for-55) from the floor while Findlay was 52% including 64% in the second half.

ODU hosts Hillsdale on senior day, Saturday, February 23 with tip set for 3 p.m. at Alumni Hall.
