Men's Basketball Travels to Lake Erie on Thursday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team looks to get back on the winning track as they travel to Lake Erie on Thursday with tip set for 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers come into the week with a 12-9 record overall and are 8-6 in the conference after a pair of G-MAC losses to Malone and Walsh last week.

Last week the Panthers shot just 40% from the floor and averaged 65 points per game which is just under 12 points below their season average of 77.7.

Sophomore Tahj Curry (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and junior Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) led ODU in scoring as they both averaged 14 points per game while Varence averaged 11 rebounds to Curry's 4.5.

Varence still leads the country in defensive rebounds per game at 9.28 per game and is second in the country, tops in the G-MAC, averaging 11.9 total rebounds per game.

Earlier in the season, ODU defeated Lake Erie in Alumni Hall by a final score of 83-78. The Panthers had four players in double-figures led by sophomore Matt King (Mason, Ohio) with 19 points while Varence had 18 with eight rebounds.

Junior Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) and senior Ryan Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) each had 11 points as ODU shot 57.4% (31-of-54) from the floor and 41% (9-of-22) from three.

In nine road games this season, the Panthers are 3-6 averaging 74.9 points per game on 44.7% shooting and average 43.3 rebounds per game.

About Lake Erie

Lake Erie is coming into the week with a 13-7 record and are sitting fourth in the G-MAC with an 8-4 record after a pair of road wins against Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene.

The Storm is 8-2 at home this season scoring 75.7 points per game on 43.4% shooting and averaging 43.9 rebounds per game in those 10 games.

For the season, the Storm is averaging 72.8 points per game on 42.2% shooting while their opponents shoot just 41.9% and score 67.4 points per game.

LEC has two players averaging double-figures led by Gabe Kynard averaging 17.8 while Erron James averages 10.2.

In the loss in Alumni Hall earlier in the season, Kynard led the Storm with 24 points while Brogan Scott had 13 and Jordan Humphrey came off the bench to score 11.

The Storm shot 46.4% from the floor (32-of-69) but just 26.3% (5-of-19) from three.
