Men's Basketball Hosts Lake Erie Saturday To Continue G-MAC Play

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team gets set to host the Storm of Lake Erie this Saturday at Alumni Hall with tip set for 3 p.m.

The Panthers come into the week with a 5-3 record overall and a 1-1 record in the G-MAC after splitting last week with Walsh and Malone.

In the Thursday night 77-69 overtime loss at Walsh, Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) led the way with 25 points and seven rebounds while Ryan Hoyng (Celina, Ohio) and Tahj Curry (Fort Wayne, Indiana) were each in double-figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively.

In the Saturday afternoon 81-70 win over Malone, Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) recorded his first double-double of the season leading the Panthers with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Hickey and Curry each had 15 points while Hoyng had 12 for ODU.

ODU's offense is shooting 46.2% from the floor overall and 36% from distance scoring 72.4 points per game. Hickey leads the offense averaging 16 points per game while Curry is averaging 13.9 points per game while Varence is averaging 11.5 per game.

The Panthers are leading the G-MAC in rebound margin with a +6.1 while being third in the conference with 30 defensive rebounds per game.

Defensively, ODU is giving up 72.4 points per game forcing 11.5 turnovers per game.

The Storm come into the week with a 5-3 overall record and a 2-0 record in the G-MAC with wins over Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins last week.

The LEC offense is led by Gabe Kynard who is averaging 18.0 points per game along with four others who are averaging at least 8.1 points per game.

The Storm are averaging 70.3 points per game on 39.7% shooting. They are also averaging 42.9 rebounds per game and average 14.4 turnovers per game.

Defensively, the Storm allow 64.6 points per game on 40.1% opponent shooting and just 24.5% from distance. They force 12 turnovers per game with 11 steals per game.
