COLUMBUS, Ohio — Following a 12-day break from game action, Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team will travel to Malone on Saturday, December 30 before taking on Findlay for the second time this season on Tuesday, January 2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference contests.

The Panthers (7-5, 2-3 G-MAC) topped West Virginia State by a final mark of 108-96 in Alumni Hall in their last contest. It marked the second time the squad has hit the century mark in scoring this season. Through 12 games, ODU ranks third in the Great Midwest in scoring at 84 points per game and shoots the third-highest percentage in the conference from the field (49.6 percent) and from distance (38.2 percent). Ohio Dominican is also holding its opponents to just 70.9 points per game to rank fourth in the G-MAC in scoring defense, and also limits the opposition to just 33.2 percent shooting from behind the arc to come in at fifth in the conference in three-point defense.
Four Panthers are averaging in double figures in scoring, with senior Ronnie Williams (Columbus, Ohio) leading the charge at 13.3 points per game. Sophomore forward Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) anchors the middle for ODU, scoring 12.9 points per contest while pulling down a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. Varence ranks third in the G-MAC in rebounding and has notched two double-doubles in his last three games. Senior point guard Shemar Waugh (Columbus, Ohio) is averaging 11.9 points and 5.1 assists per game while ranking 12th in the country in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.81. Sophomore guard Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio) averages double figures in scoring off the bench at 11.7 points per game.
ODU has concluded non-conference play for the regular season, finishing 5-2 in out-of-conference contests. The Panthers will be on the road four times in the month of January and will host Cedarville on Saturday, January 6 in its next home game in Alumni Hall.
