COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team fell 82-59 in a road GLIAC contest at Wayne State on Thursday night.
The Panthers (6-4, 2-3 GLIAC) were looking for their third victory in their last four games and dropped just their second road contest of the season in the loss.
ODU was led by freshman Sam Hickey (Toledo, Ohio), who finished with 14 points on a perfect shooting night, going 6-of-6 from the free throw line, 2-of-2 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the field. Freshman Hasan Varence (Queens, New York) chipped in six points and six rebounds for Ohio Dominican.
ODU began the game on a 5-0 run after a three-pointer by Williams and a layup by DeLeon at the 17:18 mark of the first half gave the Panthers an early five-point lead.
The Panthers trailed 20-14 at the 7:45 mark of the first half, but an 8-2 run for ODU, sparked by a three-pointer by junior Adam Cytlak (Van Buren, Ohio) and capped off by a three-point play from junior Shemar Waugh (Columbus, Ohio) with 5:17 until halftime tied the game at 22-22.
But Wayne State would go on an 11-0 run to end the half and outscored the Panthers 60-37 for the remainder of the game to earn the 82-59 victory.
ODU will look to get back on track when it travels to Saginaw Valley for a GLIAC contest on Sunday at 3 p.m.
