CANTON, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's basketball team suffered its second straight road loss, falling 84-74 at Malone Saturday in GLIAC action.

Senior Brandon Carr (Westchester, Ill.) scored a career-high 18 points for the Panthers, who also received 13 points from sophomore Chad Nelson (Columbus, Ohio).

Malone (9-7, 7-5) shot 68.8 percent in the first half to take control early, using a 13-2 run early to go in front 22-9.

Carr hit a jumper, then came up with a steal for a layup and a foul to draw ODU within 22-14. Later, junior Jesse Ward (North Pole, Alaska) scored on a putback and hit a jumper, to make it 25-18, and a Mark Minch (West Chester, Ohio) layup kept the Panthers within seven at 29-22 with 7:28 left.

The Pioneers would outscore ODU 23-9 to close the half, though, and take a 52-31 lead into the locker room.

ODU (4-12, 2-10 GLIAC) outscored Malone 43-32 in the second half, shooting 16-of-32 from the field, but could never cut the deficit to single digits.

Malone shot 55.9 percent from the floor for the game, compared to 43.1 percent for ODU.

Ward scored a career-high nine points and senior Don Kellum (Chicago, Ill.) pulled down eight rebounds (seven offensive) off the bench.

Ohio Dominican will take on Ashland in a road contest at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
