Football Selected for Two Division II Showcase Games

NCAA RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS – NCAA Division II has announced its national football showcase schedule for the upcoming 2019 season, which will feature Ohio Dominican on two separate occasions.

The Panthers' games against Valdosta State (Ga.) and Findlay (Ohio), on Sept. 14 and 21, will be streamed live on ESPN3, available on the ESPN app. The showcase series will feature 18 football contests from NCAA Division II, as ODU will compete in two of the currently scheduled nine games on ESPN3. Two additional games will be announced by the NCAA at a later date for Nov. 9 and 16.

Ohio Dominican begins consecutive weeks with national showcase games at Valdosta State, who is the defending national champion and ranked No. 1 in every preseason poll currently available. The Panthers, who are receiving votes in the national preseason coaches poll, and the Blazers are set for 6:05 p.m. kickoff.

For the third time since 2013, ODU and Findlay will square off in a national showcase game. The Panthers won last season's meeting, 34-21, which was a part of a 22-game Division II National Football Showcase. The Black & Gold also defeated Findlay 41-21 in a game carried by CBS Sports Network in 2013. The Oilers are also receiving votes in the 2019 AFCA preseason poll and join the Panthers as top three teams in the preseason Great Midwest Coaches Poll.

The Panthers are scheduled to host Findlay at 12:05 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21. The contest will also be ODU's Homecoming Game, as well as Hall of Fame Day.

"We are thankful for the opportunity to highlight our outstanding football student-athletes from Findlay and Ohio Dominican next month on ESPN3," stated Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. "It is a great opportunity to display two strong programs in a contest that will go a long way in determining this year's Great Midwest Champion. It should be an exciting atmosphere at Ohio Dominican's Homecoming and we thank President Gervasi and the Panthers' staff for accommodating this production."

ODU's fourth-year head football coach Kelly Cummings added, "We are honored to receive this type of exposure and are looking forward to the opportunity to compete at a high level on a national stage."
