INDIANAPOLIS – For the second straight week, Ohio Dominican's football team picked up G-MAC Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, as senior Tristan Kehres (Shelby, Ohio) and sophomore Logen Neidhardt (Hicksville, Ohio) were recognized following ODU's 24-17 win over Ashland.
Kehres racked up 12 tackles (2.0 TFL), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble to lead ODU's defense. His sack and forced fumble at the start of the third quarter set up the Panthers' go-ahead touchdown against the No. 18 Eagles. The defense limited Ashland to just 3.3 yards per carry and 354 total yards while shutting them out over the final three quarters. The Panthers, ranked No. 17 in the nation, also stopped Ashland on two of its three red zone trips.
This is the first player of the week honor for Kehres, who was a First Team All-Great Midwest selection last year. He's made 21 tackles in the first two games of this season.
Neidhardt is a repeat winner of the award and has now picked up the accolade four times in his career. He averaged 47.5 yards per punt on six attempts, with five of his punts traveling at least 46 yards. He had a career-long boot of 62 yards as well.
Neidhardt is averaging 47.6 yards per punt, which is second-best in the country. He's averaging 42.3 yards per punt in his career.
Ohio Dominican (2-0) will take on Hillsdale in its G-MAC opener at 7 p.m. Saturday at Panther Stadium.
