COLUMBUS, Ohio – After tying an ODU record for most touchdown catches in a game, junior wide receiver Cory Contini (Dover, Ohio) was tabbed as the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week.
In Ohio Dominican's 63-7 win over Kentucky Wesleyan last Saturday, Contini caught five passes for 142 yards and four scores. He joins Justin Sayre (Nov. 3, 2007 at Urbana) as the only Panther to catch four touchdowns in a game, and it was one TD shy of the most in a game in Division II this fall. It's also the most receiving touchdowns by any G-MAC player in a game this year, and he has caught at least one touchdown in six straight games.
Contini now has 11 touchdowns on the season, second in the G-MAC and tied for the third-most in ODU single-season history with Dez Stewart (2014.) He is now the fifth Panther to surpass 1,000 yards in a single season as well (1,006 yards.) Contini's 66 catches are the sixth most in ODU history as well.
For his career, Contini has 141 catches for 2,109 yards and 19 touchdowns. He ranks fifth in school history in yards and touchdowns and sixth in receptions. He has 10 career 100 yard receiving games, with five coming this season.
Ohio Dominican (6-3, 6-0 G-MAC) plays host to No. 22 Findlay at noon on Saturday in Panther Stadium. The winner will claim the G-MAC title and have a chance to earn a postseason bid.
