COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After making 15 tackles, recovering a fumble and intercepting a pass in Ohio Dominican's 41-27 win over Hillsdale, freshman corner back Shyoun Petteway (Steubenville, Ohio) was named the G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

Petteway's fumble recovery occurred in the second quarter and led to a 40 yard touchdown pass from Grant Russell to Cory Contini to give ODU a 13-3 lead. His interception in the third quarter then set up a touchdown run by Russell to put ODU in front 27-20.

Eight of his 15 tackles were solo, and the 15 stops were a personal best. He now has interceptions in each of the past three games and leads the conference with his trio of picks. He has started each of the last three games and made 34 tackles in that time.

Ohio Dominican sits in first place in the conference as the lone 3-0 team, and the Panthers are idle this week. They return to the gridiron at noon on Saturday, Oct. 21 at Alderson Broaddus.
